This is my final project in Digital Art... i will miss this class and the people in it :( Ive learned alot so let me tell you what ive learn. Ive learned how to do stuff with colors that i didnt know before. I learned how to use layers of colors to make the  certain images stand out and other push back. I love the final out come.///

 These are my roughs. I the first one is unfinished but it was suppose to be the replica of the poster i want to create. The next one is the postion i think i want to place my amazon pixie in. And the last are just the beginning shetches of the pixies. More info about my story to come...XD

CirCus RefeNces!!!!



These are my inspration posters. Im going back and forth between what I want the pose of the pixie to be between the first to poster. I love the very both because I think they fit the kinds of feeling im going for. I love the contrast between the light background and the black boarder. The 3rd poster is what I want the background to look like and the last poster is the inspriation for my pixie. She is creepy and dominating and i love that aspect of her. And the color used are something that I want to reolicate.

Real Photography

 

These are the photo in my imaginary landscape. The old victorain house is a really house named Carson from Eureka,CA. If you look at the previous post you can tell that I took out a pretty big chuck of the buildings and a lot of the greenry in order to get like the "bare bones" sort of speak so I  can really do anything I wanted with it. I changed the hue and the light visiable with on the house and the greenry that i decided to keep. The next picture are drawings that I have made just for the fantasy landscape. I wanted to include these little guys because they kinda reminded me of the ghost in The Corpse Bride of even the ghost Zero in the Nightmare Before Christmas.  In the landscape I change their opacity and gave then a cyan hue so they wont like disappear when they printed out. The last picture is a picture take by my friend Caroline Parks a few yeasr ago when we went hiking. Shes an ameuter photographer thats kinda why it looks so epic. She let me use the sky for my fantasy landscape and i think it actually turned out really well. The boarder was not a photograph or a drawing. I actully did all the detail with various brushes and it took forever but i think it was worth it....

Landscapes!!

 This is my fantasy landscape.I know theres two not be confused I just wasnt 100%  sure which one I loved more.  The one with the boarder I feel has so much more character and places with the idea of a fantasy more then the landscape without a boarder. Plus i think the house in the picture with the boarder is pushed to the background and doesnt command as much attention as the house in the boarderless landscape. I also just think the board is so "alice in wonderland". Very playful in a dark way which kind of pulls in me to it because i love dark, gothic like visual attaractions. I enjoy the ghosts on the boarderless landscape because I find them to be so amuzing. They are a more impactful piece of the landscape amd stand out more then the ghosts on the  landscape with a boarder. As hard as i worked on that boarder the landscape without the boarder just stands out more then the one with a boarder, even though the one with the boarder has that dark "tim burton" "nightmare before christmas" feeling i was going for... will i guess i'll just print them both out and see what my peers think....well be putting up the real photos soon

LaNdScApE RoUgH!!!

Theres are myu roughs for the Landscape Project. My story is kind of a glimpse in into my mind. I want the landscpae to be filled with all the things that I like and be a representation of my. I love directors like Tim Burton and Shane Acker because their visions are totally unique and original and have a lot to do with the things that I like. The first picture is how I want the general outline to be of my landscape. I want the sky to be kind of gloomy and I want the would landscape to be dark and give people the same feelings I get when I watch a movie like " The Nightmare Before Christmas" ( by Tim Burton) or "9" (by Shane Acker). I wanted incooperate a boarder simliar to the one in the second picture so  people can really get the feeling of looking in the my head and seeing the world as I see it. I want to use this boarder because I was something similar to this one on a "Corpse Bride" movie poster and I was drawn to it bcause of all the little details and just the way it was structured made me like it more. The last picture just a rough drawing of some ghost like creature I want to incooperate in the landscape some sort of way because I love their shapes and I think they will add to the over all atmosphere that I am going for.

Theres I also a buliding structure that I want to infuss in the landscape to but I havent been able to fine a reference that would work with what I going for...

I have no clue how this is going to tuirn out but I will do my best to make it as close as possible to what i want.



PoStCaRdS!!!

My wonderful postcards.... the story behind my postcards is that i wanted my squid to venture and explore varies attractions in California. The first place my squid wenr was to the Golden Gate brigde. I love this postcard because I worked really hard to get the squid in that location and I worked hard to make the brigde look the was it does. The next place my squid went was the Santa Monica Pier. I admit I didnt do my best. In all honesty I ranout of time and that was really my throw away post card. I really didnt like the way that postcard turned out. Finally my squid went to Sea World. Sea World was one of my favorite places to go to when I was younger and I wanted to recreate one of my favorite attractions at sea world... Shamu! I didnt world very hard to get the animals in the positions that they ended up being in..The hardest part was deciding when it was complete. I keep changing the colors and textures but I did work hard on the logo.. I think that was my favorite part.

SqUid!!!



My second assignment with illustrator was to recreat this squid. I feel I didnt do to badly but I will let you be the judge of that. ^_^

ShApEs!!!

This is the first project I made on illustrator. I want to  us contrasting colors to set up a kind of flow but Im not sure I was sucessful. I also want to make the positive space seem like it would fit with the negeative space but I later realized that I spent more time considered with the postive space and didnt do anything with the negative space. Also I realize now that the shapes I used not vary in size so it feels to me that mothing is really archored down. One concept of 2D  design I feel I didnt well on was the use of repetition. Even though I literally repeated shapes like triangles and squares, I think that it help make a nice design.

PicTure RefreNces

These are some of the refrences I will be using for my postcards. I originally wanted to go for a soft kind of contemporary style but I quickly changed my mind when I began to really dig in to my concept and got a better look at all the different styles I could choose from. So the first four pictures show the kind of concept I will be going for with my squid postcards. I want a more edgey and dark colors because my concept is very dark. My vision is to see my squid taking over various places in southern california. My squid will be taking over places near the ocean because I really dont want to take him from his natural element,the water.I want pull the colors I use from the first four picture above. I love the was the background is illustrate in the first picture so I want to include that in the San Fransico, Golden Gate Bridge take over. I really love how the color plays with your emotions in the second picture. The contrast between the dark and the brighter colors is something I want to play around with when my squid takes over Sea World and fights shamu. The third picture is my personal favorite. I love the use of colors plays with you eye and gives the picture depth and really stands out against that heavy boarder. I really want to use the colors in this one to give help build the beachy feeling when I have my squid take over the beach or the queen mary. The final picture of the ravens is the style I really want to work with all my postcards. It a water color picture so I want to use that effect throughout the whole project. I love the value watercolors give so I belive that well give some great variety with the colors I will be using. Plus I think it would be  a cool effect on a postcard.

These are the pictures of my creature.....the Squid!!! A real squid is king creepy and scary looking so hence why most of the pictures I choose are either illustrated or from a distance, except for the last two....

hehe Changes have been made....

Since I lost the battle for the jeLLyfiSh I had to change my animal or sea creature... so I choose the SQUID. Squids are kinda creepy looking to say the least but I kinda find them unique. I learned that in japanese culture is normal to eat squid, which is kinda weird to me because I didnt know that people could, or would ever, like to eat squid but hey eveyones different. Pictures of the creature will be up soon....
